Sverdlovskiy region will remain the host of the WorldSkills Hi-Tech National Competition

The annual WorldSkills Hi-Tech National Competition among employees of Russian industrial enterprises will be held in Sverdlovsk region for the next five years. This was agreed at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Form 2017 “SPIEF2017” between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, government of Sverdlovsk region, Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) and the Union ‘Young Professionals’ (WorldSkills Russia) traditionally framing the Competition Management Team.

The parties signed a concerned agreement on cooperation on June 2 in Saint Petersburg. According to the document, the annual WorldSkills Hi-Tech National Competition will be held in Sverdlovsk region until the year 2021. All the parties undertake to participate in the preparation of competitions and hosting them.

“Every year employees of the leading industrial enterprises of Russia demonstrate their expertise in hi-tech industries at “Yekaterinburg-Expo,” where the competition is held. The competition also represents an effective platform for the development and approbation of future skills. Within three years Hi-Tech Competitions have brought together more than 1000 specialists in the industry as well as schoolchildren,” said Director General of the Union ‘Young Professionals’ (WorldSkills Russia.) Robert Urazov.

According to the Director of the “Young Professionals” direction Dmitriy Peskov the organizers of the competition have created a well-shaped infrastructure for holding competitions and proved to be reliable partners. “Sverdlovsk region is one of the leading industrial clusters in Russia and large companies of the region are willing to transfer from holding competitions to introducing the models, skills and technologies that turn up in the framework of the WorldSkills Hi-Tech Competition into their daily practice,” said Dmitriy Perskov. “That is why Yekaterinburg is becoming a pilot region for developing the image of new Russian industry.”

Selection of Competitors for the fourth WorldSkills Hi-Tech National Competition has started in April 2017: teams of the largest holdings and enterprises were formed according to the results of corporate and industrial skills competitions aimed not only at determining best professionals but also developing approaches for staff training within the educational system and at industrial enterprises.

WorldSkills Hi-Tech are the largest skills competitions in hi-tech industries according to the WorldSkills Standards held in Russia among employees of Russian industrial enterprises. The competition is aimed at development of skills and expertise of young professionals under 28 as well as career guidance of juniors aged 10-17 studying at affiliated educational institutions. Since 2014, WorldSkills Hi-Tech National Competitions have been annually held in Yekaterinburg.
